This picture was taken on the first day of our first cycling holiday. After a couple of hours spent getting lost around Saumur, we eventually managed to get our bearings and cycled east into the hills running parallel to the Loire River. After climbing the hill, and with our muscles tiring already, we were ready to seize any chance for a break. That’s when we saw the benches.

They were surrounded on all sides by vineyards, with white grapes hanging off in bunches. There was no-one to be seen. We took a couple of grapes to quench our thirst. As our muscles slowly recovered, we reflected that this idyllic rural scene was exactly why we had come cycling in the first place.
